چکیده

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) recurrency rate is still high despite patients receiving complete treatment. The response to treatment may vary depending on the type of histopathology and Epstein-Barr virus, however mechanism remains unclear. Recent studies have found that there a relationship between presence cancer stem cells (CSCs). CD44+ cause be resistant Therefore, this cross-sectional study aims determine correlation CD44 + cell expression histopathological types NPC. Method: Samples were obtained from NPC biopsies I, II, III (based WHO criteria), who had not received prior was examined using immunohistochemistry methods by staining monoclonal antibodies. degree membrane based immunoreactive score scale or Remmele index scale. Results: Most (21 patients, 50%), followed II (18 42.86%), I (3 7.14%). showed one patient moderate positive two high-positive expression. In 10 eight high-positive. III, low-positive, 11 nine Statistical analysis difference three statistically significant. Conclusion: There no correlations NPC.

CD44+ Cancer Stem-Like Cells in EBV-Associated Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a unique EBV-associated epithelial malignancy, showing highly invasive and metastatic phenotype. Despite increasing evidence demonstrating the critical role of cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) in the maintenance and progression of tumors in a variety of malignancies, the existence and properties of CSC in EBV-associated NPC are largely unknown. Our study aims to e...

Cancer Stem Cell Markers CD44, CD133 in Primary Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are unique subpopulations that have the capacity to drive malignant progression with renewal abilities. Recently the role of some of CSCs in gastric adenocarcinoma has been studied. This study was performed in order to evaluate CD44 and CD133 expressions by immunohistochemistry in 95 primary gastric adenocarcinoma and their relation to clinical and pathological paramete...

Expression analysis of CD44 isoforms S and V3, in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Objective(s):  CD44 is a member of the cell adhesion molecules family. Naturally, CD44S, along with CD44V3 influence the cell motility, migration, and adhesion, while in tumor cells they lead to tumor invasion, progression, and metastasis. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the CD44S and CD44V3 expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC) and to reveal their correlations wit...

Evaluation of Stem Cell Markers, CD44/CD24 in Breast Cancer Cell Lines

Background Cancer stem cells play crucial roles in resistance to therapeutic schemes and relapse of disease, so it is important to find targeted therapies that kill them selectively. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females living in all part of the world including Iran and it has an important burden in public health with direct impact on patients’ families. Breast cancer in young ad...

Relationships between CD44, hyaluronic acid expression and lymphatic metastasis and radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

To study the sensible relationships between CD44, Hyaluronic acid (HA) expression and lymphatic metastasis and radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and to explore and predict effective biological indicators for potential lymphatic metastasis and radiosensitivity. Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR method have respectively tested the CD44 protein, levels of HA and mRNA expression in 50 pati...
